Macmillan Cancer Support
One in three of us will get cancer and it’s the toughest thing most of us will ever face. If you’ve been diagnosed with cancer, or a loved one has, you’ll want a team of people in your corner supporting you every step of the way. Macmillan provide practical, medical and financial support and push for better cancer care.

The partners are keen to involve patients in the development of services and care at Brig Royd.

The Patient Reference Group has met at the practice on 7th September and 24th January and in between these two meetings we undertook a survey of 250 patients. As a result of the patient group meetings and the survey of patients the practice will:

1. Undertake a major publicity campaign in the waiting room and along the corridors to relaunch www.brigroydsurgery.co.uk – which provides practice information, health advice on the site and in links to other health promotion sites, and SystmOnline

2. Upload a tailored “help guide” to using SystmOnline to the website.

3. Provide fliers for patients to take away for the website in general and for SystmOnline.

4. Encourage all receptionists to promote the website as a health promotion resource and to promote online services to patients and to register them using the computer in the interview where appropriate.

5. Encourage partners to promote the online facilities where they feel it is appropriate, especially when patients are requesting prescriptions in consultations.

6. Install new speakers in the waiting room to improve the quality of the tannoy calling system.

7. Make the Comments and Compliments book and Suggestion Box more obvious and to promote these means of feedback to the practice on the website.

8. Make midwife follow-up appointments available to be booked online.

Full details of our engagement with patients during 2011 and 2012 to date can be found by clicking Survey Report on the right hand menu bar.

The partners and staff  are committed to continuing to maintain our high standards of care and service and will use current technology to further enhance our patients’ experiences. Please do contact me if you would like to be involved in our Patient Participation Group, or if there is any feedback you would like to give.
