Marie Curie Cancer Care

Marie Curie Cancer Care is a UK charity dedicated to the care of people with terminal cancer and other illnesses. Over the financial year 2010/11, we reached a total of 31,799 patients

Youth Health Talk

Youthhealthtalk enables young people, their family and friends, and professionals such as doctors and teachers to understand young people's experiences of health, illness and life in general. The website feature real-life accounts of issues such as effect on work and education, social life and relationships, consulting health professionals and treatment.



Mrs Joanne Hallinan (f)

Joanne joined the Brig Royd team in March 2019 and is our Advanced Nurse Practitioner, taking the lead role in managing patients with chronic diseases.

Vanessa StarsmoreVanessa Starsmore

Vanessa joined the staff as a Practice Nurse at Brig Royd in January 2003, prior to this she worked at Plane Trees Surgery for eight years. Vanessa qualified in 1984 and spent many years in Accident and Emergency before branching out into General Practice.

Sue Wade (f)

Sue works on Mondays and Fridays and provides cover for holidays and other eventualities. Sue has been a Practice Nurse for over 20 years. 


Sue qualified in 1989 and worked in ICY and Orthopaedics before coming a Practice Nurse. Sue’s special area of interest is asthma and COPD.


Sue is married with two teenage children. She enjoys running and caring for a house full of rescued animals!

Healthcare Assistants

Lee Ellis

Lee.JPGLee joined the practice January 2011.

She initially worked as part of the Surgical Outpatients Team with the Calderdale Royal Hospital for 4 years, as a Level III Health Care Assistant, moving only to take on the challenge of a new venture, working in the first Outpatients Department based in the community at the new build Todmorden Outpatients for 2 Years.

She is a qualified Health Care Assistant, Phlebotomist and Massage Therapist.
